Homesite Project ~
This site was developed to give shareholders a chance to learn about the Homesite project. For a more in-depth explanation, review we will post a Powerpoint presentation for your use. Meanwhile, for any questions you may have, there is a FAQ that might have the answers. If the FAQ can’t answer your question, feel free to call, e-mail, or write us, our contact information is posted below. We will also be developing a blog for you to post your comments on and read the thoughts and feelings of other shareholders.
We are also looking to setup more shareholder informational meetings and will post a calendar for dates and times in the near future.
The Homesite project is a land dividend conveying land to shareholders for the development of that area. TNC will be giving approximately 1.5 acres for every 100 shares. This land will be used for strictly residential use of the shareholder and their extended family. Anything outside of that will lift the tax free status of the individual shareholder’s lot due to the restrictions in place by Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA). This Homesite project will be part of, but is separate from, the municipality on TNC lands which is compliant to 14(c)(3) of Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act which states that village corporations must convey lands for a future municipality.
This project is an opportunity for TNC to give lands to its shareholder and not required by law. It is also separate from but tied into 14(c)(3) land conveyances to State Municipal Land Trust. In order for the project to proceed, there will be a survey to see if you as a shareholder want this to happen and how you want it to happen, we will have an analysis to find the most acceptable way to go about this, then a vote will be taken by all shareholders to see you are satisfied with this process. After that, the selection process will start, then the issuance of land will begin.
